Nature
The environment is its real strength; it is a genuine and evocative place, able to offer high quality "farm to table" products. The rich and diverse flora offers unique scents and colors in every season. Its geological diversity is researched and studied by scientists from all over the world. A crossroads of Mediterranean peoples and traditions, the National Park preserves and values the territory in its entirety.
History
Historic cultural sites chart human migrations since the Neolithic period. The Etruscans exploited the inexhaustible wealth of this territory, with the island's first iron mines dating back to the 8th century BC. The iron and granite mining industry has continued over the centuries and can be witnessed today by the many visitable sites. One the other hand, we owe the winemaking tradition, still carried on today, to the ancient Romans. One of the most famous Roman authors, Pliny the Elder, called Elba "the island of Good Wine."
